Description
White extruded acrylic (PMMA) sheets | GS
The extruded acrylic (PMMA) sheets in black are available from Kunststof Forte Belgium in thicknesses of 3 mm and in various sizes.
This material is better known as sheet under the trade names Perspex or Plexiglas. It is a widely used material in the advertising industry for light boxes, displays and showcases. It is a hard opaque plastic. But it is also available in a transparent/clear sheet or in other colours.
The material is much stronger than glass and also easy to work with, so it is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
Acrylate is a thermoplastic with a large number of excellent properties.
Its low specific weight, unique weather resistance and good mechanical machining capabilities make it very suitable as a glass substitute, especially in areas where the risk of breakage is high.
Acrylic has two production methods, cast and extruded, the main difference between the two is that cast acrylic is more stress-resistant.
Applications
White acrylate has many applications, mainly in decorative industries. Acrylate can be found in showcases, interior design, displays, façade advertising, (name) signs and models.
Because the material has a high impact resistance and is 25 times stronger and 50% lighter than glass, it is often used to replace glass.
Processing options
Acrylate is very easy to process. You can saw, mill, laser, hot-bend, glue, drill, facet, polish, matt and print acrylic.
