Description
PVC (polyvinyl chloride) rod
PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) is a hard, chemically very resistant plastic. It is available from Kunststof Forte Belgium in a recognisable dark-grey colour.
The bars are available in various outside diameters from Ø 5 to 110 mm. The standard length is 2 metres. Would you like a different length? Then contact us and if desired, it can be ordered in a different size.
The material of the PVC (polyvinyl chloride) bar does not allow gases and liquids to pass through and is highly resistant to ageing. Due to the mechanical strength of the bars, self-supporting constructions are also possible.
PVC also has excellent flame retardant properties. The material is easy to clean because it is smooth and pore-free.
Applications
PVC is widely used in the advertising world and in the construction sector. PVC in the form of pipes, fittings and accessories is also indispensable in the construction of pipe systems.
The application possibilities of PVC are also great for processors in the apparatus engineering, mechanical engineering and electrical industry.
Some more applications:
- Chemical industry & equipment construction
- Water treatment plants
- Galvanic processes & electrical engineering
- Pool installations & techniques
- Discharge facilities
- Mounting panel for electronic components in control cabinets
- Exhaust systems & piping
- Pendulum doors for industrial applications

Storage
Size changes may occur depending on temperature and moisture absorption. Temperature-dependent size changes can be avoided by taking the storage of the materials into account.
Store the materials at a minimum of +10 °C and in a dry area. Do not expose the material to sunlight or other weather conditions.
Processing options
The material can be glued, welded, set, turned, milled and drilled, which creates a wide range of applications.
Machining operations
The choice of the right tools and correct cutting conditions are very important. In machining, it is important to pay attention to a high cutting speed, sharp cutting edges, low feed and good chip removal.
This is the best way to prevent tearing and unnecessary splitting. The best cooling is heat dissipation through the chip; unlike in metal processing, the chip should be as long as possible, as thermoplastics are poor heat conductors.
Welding
The material can also be welded by means of heat and pressure. The PVC (polyvinyl chloride) rods can also be welded according to the processes described in DIN. These are mainly hot air welding and welding with heated tools. Welds should be made in such a way that they are only exposed to low bending loads.
Adhesives
It is quite easy to join PVC bars with high adhesive strength using the right types of glue. It is very important that the right types of glue are used. Only solvent glues should be used when joining PVC materials.
If you want to glue the PVC bar with another material, you have to use an adhesive glue.
Surface treatment
Is the material used for screen printing applications? Then the boards must be cleaned and degreased accordingly before the printing or varnishing process in order to ensure sufficient adhesion of the paint.
Deform
PVC bars can be thermally moulded well.
