PE Polyethylene (HDPE) rod
PE bar is also known as Polyethylene bar or HDPE bar. It is produced from a thermoplastic base granulate. Like many other types of pipes and rods, it is available from Kunststof Forte Belgium.
The PE bar is available in natural (white) and black colours. They are available in various outside diameters, from Ø10 to 60 mm. The standard length is 2 metres. Would you like a different length? Then contact us and, if required, it can be ordered in a different size.
This bar is an engineering material that is extruded. It has no further film or other protection around it, which is why this rod is less suitable for optical applications. Indeed, it is always possible that damage may be present due to handling or storage of the material.
Applications
The PE Polyethene (HDPE) bar is suitable for applications where no heavy proprietary requirements are placed on the plastic used. This bar has a relatively low melting temperature, so it is not practical to use it in hot environments.
Processing options
The PE Polyethene (HDPE) rod from Kunststof Forte Belgium can be machined perfectly. You can drill, turn, saw and mill the bars. Here it is important that you use sharp tools.
If you use blunt tools, for example when cutting PE bar with a blunt saw, the material will start to fibre.
The material of the PE rod is fairly tough, therefore fibres or chips are also difficult to remove.
It is possible to fit these rods e.g. PE sheet. It is just NOT possible to glue them together.
